Today was the final final tidy up of the 4th coppice area. Our volunteers broke out into smaller groups to put the remaining heaps of hazel cuttings into the dry hedges, move the various log piles to the north side of the coppice site whilst sorting them into potential thatcher material and restacking the remainder against the dry hedge making alternative animal habitats.
Finally, a safety survey was completed to make safe the coppice area and hazel stools, etc. and upon exit a permanent closure erected across the the access gate to secure the site.
Thank you everyone for making this another conservation success story for the park.
